Akyaka Beach is easily one of my favorite Marmaris beaches, and it’s not hard to understand why – it’s absolutely picture-perfect.
It boasts golden sand crystal-clear turquoise water, and it’s nice and shallow for a few hundred meters, making it both pleasant and safe for swimming. Also, as a bonus, entrance is free – you need to pay a hiring fee for umbrellas and sun loungers.
With plenty of restaurants and cafes along the beach, you can easily hang out here all day, just relaxing on the beach and enjoying the gorgeous Mediterranean water.
2. Emre Beach
Emre Beach is a high-end, private beach, and you need to be a guest of Emre Hotel to use their facilities – but if you’re looking for Marmaris beachfront hotels that’ll provide you with some peace and quiet from the hoards of tourists and summertime crowds, this is a great option.
The beach is small, only about 50 meters long, but it’s relaxed, and you’ll have access to all the facilities and amenities you’ll need.
It’s about three kilometers from the center of town, and when it comes to quiet beaches in Marmaris, this one is top-notch.
3. Siteler Area/Incekum Beach
Just three kilometers from the center of Marmaris, you’ll find Siteler Beach, often referred to as Incekum Beach – not to be confused with Incekum Beach in Antalya!.
It’s a two-kilometer stretch of beach, part of which is public and part of which is privately owned. You can enter the public part for free (make sure to take along everything you need), while you’ll have to pay an admission fee for the private parts. If you’re not staying at one of the hotels, you can normally pay a day fee, and that includes the use of umbrellas, day beds, changing rooms, and more.
The beach is covered in small pebbles, but the clear sea is pretty calm here, making it ideal for swimming – especially for families with small children.
4. Uzunyali Beach/Marmaris Long Beach
Marmaris Long Beach, also known as Uzunyali Beach or Marmaris Central Beach, is the place to be if you’re looking for nightlife and Marmaris Beach parties. It’s always buzzing with activity, with loads of clubs, dance clubs, and numerous bars, restaurants, and pubs lining the beachfront. Best of all, it’s only about 500 meters from the central partying area of Marmaris.
You can also hang out here during the day and enjoy the sunshine – there are sunbeds and umbrellas available to the public.
Just note that the beach is covered in small pebbles, so it’s advisable to take along appropriate footwear.
5. Turunç Beach – Turunç Plajı
Turunç Beach, located in Turunç, about 20 kilometers from the center of Marmaris, is a beautiful beach covered in a mixture of fine sands and pebbles. It’s surrounded by beautiful nature – a mix of breathtaking cliffs, pine forests, and beautiful flowers – and it’s pretty quiet, making Turunc Beach a charming and peaceful location.
The beach boasts blue flag status, as well as plenty of infrastructure to ensure that you have a comfortable day – including changing rooms, restrooms, shops, and umbrellas and loungers for hire.
It’s also known for having a variety of high-quality dining establishments, especially compared to some other beaches in the area, so if you’re looking for some good beach restaurants in Marmaris, Turunç Beach is the place to go.
6. Ciftlik Beach
Ciftlik Beach (and the picturesque bay more generally) is a massive attraction for people visiting Marmaris, as it’s only about 30 kilometers from the center of Marmaris. The beach is known for its picturesque crystal-clear waters, and it’s an excellent place for swimming.
You can actually get there by boat, so it’s a top-notch choice if you’re considering boat trips from Marmaris.
7. Marmaris Downtown Beach
Starting off with the most convenient go-to destination on our list, Marmaris Downtown Beach, often referred to as Marmaris Public Beach, is right in the middle of town. It’s easily the most convenient beach to get to, so it’s ideal if you want to go for a quick swim or if you’re keen on spending time at the beach but don’t feel like traveling too far.
Since it’s a public beach, entrance is free, but you’ll still need to rent an umbrella and a sun lounger if that’s what you want. It’s a pretty basic beach – perfect for sunbathing, reading a book, and having a refreshing dip – but it’s not big enough or suitable for any beach activities or various water sports.
Also, note that the sand is pretty dark and gritty, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all, but of course, some people settle for nothing less than the golden sand you see on postcards – so if you don’t like black sand, you’re probably better off traveling a little bit outside of town.
However, the water is lovely and warm, so you’re sure to have a delightful swim at Marmaris Public Beach.
8. Marmaris Bay Beach
Marmaris Bay Beach is an incredibly exclusive Marmaris beachfront hotel, with access to the beach being entirely restricted to guests of the establishment – but let me tell you, you’re bound to have an incredible experience.
Not only do guests of the hotel get to use the gorgeous, peaceful beach without throngs of tourists around, but you have the luxury of enjoying gorgeous beach days surrounded by lush greenery that surrounds the hotel, making this easily one of the most scenic beaches in Marmaris – even though not many people get to experience it!
As an added bonus, you’ll get to use all the hotel’s many amenities, and you’ll also be able to get involved in some water sports and beach activities, including volleyball, banana boats, and more.
9. Dalyan Iztuzu Beach
Iztuzu Beach is about 100 kilometers away from the city of Marmaris, but I assure you, this one’s worth the effort. It’s located near the small town of Dalyan, which is in the middle of the Dalyan Delta, where Koycegiz Lake connects with the Mediterranean region. The town itself boasts a mixture of lakes and seaside beaches, adding to not only its beauty but its uniqueness, too.
Now, Iztuzu Beach is a long beach, about 5.5 kilometers in total, covered in gorgeous fine sand and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for the public. But Iztuzu Beach is most well known for its loggerhead sea turtles, known as Caretta Caretta, that lay their eggs here.
Of course, this all depends on the time of year, and visitors are strictly prohibited from going anywhere near the animals. Still, it adds to just how unique Iztuzu Beach and Dalyan are.
There are two sides of the beach, Dalyan Agzi Beach and the main Iztuzu Beach, but a natural waterway separates them – so you’ll need to travel by boat to reach the former, while you can reach the latter from the mainland. But, if you’re specifically looking for boat trips from Marmaris or nearby to a special beach, you should definitely consider Dalyan Agzi Beach.
10. Amos Beach
The first thing you’ll notice about Amos Beach is the pristine turquoise water – it looks like something out of a postcard! The beach is lovely and unspoiled, and it’s surrounded by natural scenery, just adding to the views.
The beach is entirely restricted, so it’s divided into different private sections that are run by a variety of resorts – you can pay a day fee to enjoy their facilities, and it really is worth it! The food at these resorts’ restaurants is generally quite good, and you’ll be able to find everything you need from them – umbrellas, loungers, as well as access to restrooms, showers, changing rooms, and more.
It’s also an excellent option for Marmaris beach activities if you want to keep busy!
Amos Beach is about 25 kilometers away from Marmaris by car, but you can also get there by boat if you prefer – there’s a water taxi that comes and goes from Marmaris every so often.

The area isn’t remarkably cosmopolitan, although there are several decent restaurants along the shoreline if you fancy a bite to eat and a yacht club too – if you’re keen on getting involved in different activities and water sports in Marmaris beaches, make sure to check them out.
The water is pristine, and it’s a great place to swim if you’re in the mood for a dip. Best of all, if you’re into boat trips from Marmaris, you can catch a water taxi from the city directly to Kumlubuk Beach!
12. Icmeler Beach
Icmeler Beach is one of the closest beaches to central Marmaris, only about eight kilometers away, and it’s probably one of the most popular beaches in the area. It boasts six kilometers of shoreline, and from the beach, you have the pleasure of looking out over the gorgeous azure waters and Keci Adasi island – it truly is spectacular.
The nice thing about Icemeler Beach (instead, one of the many nice things about it!) is that it’s partially public and partially private. So, the resorts along the beach have their own private sections that are reserved for their own guests, but the rest of the beach is open to the public. The public sections include areas that are just sandy, as well as parts that restaurants occupy. It’s still public, and they have a free sunbed you can use so long as you purchase food or a drink from the restaurant at a minimal cost.
Icmeler is probably my favorite of all the wonderful beaches near Marmaris because it has everything you may need – access to loungers, restaurants, and so on – and it’s also near the center of Marmaris. It’s a little quieter than Marmaris Downtown Beach.
13. Cleopatra Beach
If you’re looking for a slightly more unusual beach experience that’ll take your breath away, you’ve got to do a boat trip to and tour of Cleopatra Beach (not to be confused with Cleopatra Beach in Antalya). Cleopatra Beach is not located in Marmaris center but on Sedir Island (also known as Cleopatra Island), near the town of Marmaris, and the only way to get there is by boat, of course.
It’s most well-known for its silky soft pink-white sand that feels like heaven on your feet – so much so that it squeaks a little with every step you take. The crystal-clear turquoise waters look like something out of a dream! In fact, the beach and island are named after the Egyptian princess Cleopatra, who is said to have bathed here – if it’s fit for a princess, it must be pretty incredible, right?
There’s nothing much more than beach going on at Cleopatra Beach and Island – which is part of why it’s so lovely – so make sure you pack some snacks (unless you’re doing a tour that includes food, of course) and everything else you need. There are some loungers along the beach, too.
14. Akbuk Beach
Akbuk Beach is one of the further beaches of Marmaris on my list from the center of Marmaris, over 100 kilometers away and a few hours at least by car – having said that, however, it’s a beautiful location with plenty to offer. Akbuk Beach is another one that is made up of both public and private sections, so you can choose to either pay for entrance and the use of loungers and umbrellas, or you can do your own thing.
It’s not one of those fine golden sand beaches; it’s made up of primarily small pebbles, but it’s a lovely place to relax on sun loungers and enjoy the restaurants and other establishments – Akbuk Beach has some excellent and vibey beach bars in Marmaris, if you’re looking for an upbeat atmosphere.

How do I get to the beaches in Marmaris from the City Center?
Marmaris, much like Turkey’s other most popular cities and regions, has pretty reliable and efficient public transport. In Marmaris, you’ll be able to use the buses as well as their minibusses – known as a “dolmus.”
You’re likely to need to take a proper bus if you’re traveling far, and these will leave from and arrive at the central stops.
Dolmuses, on the other hand, are far more common, and they tend to cover short distances and cover a plethora of routes. You’ll see them all around these coastal locations, and they’re easy and cheap to catch. Just ask a local where the stops are, and this will most often be the easiest and most cost-effective way to get to the beaches.
If you’re not a fan of public transport, however, you can always opt for a taxi, but this will be more expensive, and you’ll probably have to make prior arrangements rather than hoping one will drive by and stop.
