Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time could have easily scored a 10/10 if it weren't for some inaccuracies regarding Persian mythology. This Disney production shines with impressive special effects, talented actors like Jake Gyllenhaal (Dastan), Gemma Arterton (Tamina), Ben Kingsley (Nizam), and Alfred Molina (Amar), along with a compelling storyline.
However, there are notable mistakes. The film's atmosphere feels decidedly Arabian rather than Persian, highlighting Hollywood's frequent confusion between Iranian and Arabian cultures. Many legendary elements, such as the "Hashashin" and "Sama's Dance," are inaccurately portrayed, and it would be too lengthy to delve into all the inaccuracies here. Additionally, the geographical mistakes are glaring-Alamut is inaccurately depicted as being on the Persian Empire's borders when it is actually near Qazvin in central Iran. Moreover, how does Dastan travel to Sudan from Alamut on foot, covering over 3000 kilometers?
Despite these negative points, I highly recommend this fantasy movie for those who love this genre.
